thing chaos (moving)
i thought i'd document our moving week chaos--
this one i call--
dino house! with fire station
styro!
middle of the room
duct tape & packing tape (virginia wolf)
napkins, dried stems (some of us in the universe are definitely inspired by moyra davey's work)
(and really in the spirit of each small thing mattering in our days)
purple clover petals, dirt specks inchoate!
a light breather breathing
the garbage
petals & styrofoam
aloe

hey chaos is mooing
perhaps i am trying to control the chaos by loving it? i do not love it.
i am a mother and my world already always feels out of control.
i should learn to love swirls. i should try so hard to love tumbling.
i should maybe love jumping up and down. i should be okay with minutes
and i should like the uncontrolled. as b. hillman says
"our very greatest human thing is wild"
so, me and my chaos of the recent minutes, in love:
chaos #1: little kitten
chaos #2: loop(s)
chaos #3: notebooks,envelope
chaos #4: city,books
chaos #5: bedroom with monster cat
chaos #6: whales are happy (corner to remember)
chaos #7: finn is napping (a check out beautiful redorangeyellowgreen quilt made by adrienne)
chaos #8: 2 owls:::::plus camel,giraffe,turtle,whale,rhino,hippo
[and i am taking these pictures not packing]

a big small thing to do

in the rumpus room
more of what's new
new: raw barley and orzo//// egg and mushroom soup with chocolate sprinkles
what's new, i mean, is finn's new kitchen, and making "soup" in it with him!
a newly closeted & organized fabric corner! (not for long i suppose since we are moving soon . . .)
peter in his new t-shirt; about 6 t-shirts made up the bulk of his solstice/christmas presents from me, since i had recently discovered threadless (thanks to janna and kelsey!)
popovers made from previously mentioned new cookbook!

hour vow (in tens)
this is a self-portrait in my parent's downstairs bathroom mirror
the main point of this post is to say i have created for myself an hour vow. if anyone else wants to do it along with me cool! or make your own. or, never, never do anything like this. mine is:::::
*******HOUR VOW**************
1 dedicate [at least] one hour each day no matter what to creating poems or music
2 do this starting january 10th 2010 until (or beyond) october 10th 2010
3 do it when possible with this in mind, from poet myung mi kim's poem "duration":
"This is to be sung"
"This is to be done"
The lyric undertakes the task of deciphering and embodying a "particularizable" prosody of one's living
. . .song making and song gesture. . .
The poem may be . . .the ear by which the prosody by which to calibrate the liberative potential of writing, storehouse of the human. . .
To probe the terms under which we denote, participate in, and speak of cultural and human practices
To mobilize the notion of our responsibility to one another in social space
